A gathering of people in Quian
Here some of our group stand outside the Mother's Club in Quian.
There are numerous organizations and gatherings of people in mountain communities. These organizations are very important to life in the mountain communities.
For example, much of the property in the communities is held in common. An understanding of how people view the ownership of things and equipment is very important to us. We need to be respectful of the perceptions they have. For instance, when we leave equipment, whose responsibility is it to care for it? Does it belong to the government? The clinic? The Church? The people? A continued study of these questions, and how they are locally perceived, is a part of our project.
An understanding of the long term impact of our presence is absolutely necessary for sustainable, responsible development.
